Sills are similar to limestone hearths as they come rock faced on one long edge and come in a standard 2” thickness. The length of limestone sills are 4’ to 8’ and the width is 6” to 8”.
This classic masonry technique involves incising the limestone surface with a series of parallel thin lines. These rows of incisions in the limestone appear dark grey or black set against the smooth curved surfaces of the stone. The chiselled finish achieves a paler blue-grey colour with the ancient crinoids revealing themselves as a randomly distributed pattern of paler grey flecks. Chiselled blue limestone is an excellent finish for both internal and external applications such as cladding, ashlar, lintels, mouldings, pavilions, setts, kerbs and steps
Common surface treament for limestone pavers
1 Coarse grinder (Rough-Rubbing)
The surface is simply polished, so that the machine cuts can not be worn out during the cutting process. It feels rough rough finishing.
2 Machine-Cut
It is directly cut and shaped by disc sawing saw or bridge cutting machine, with rough surface and obvious cutting edge.
3 Litchi (Bushhammered) Rough surface, uneven, is chiseled on the surface densely cut out small holes, there is a imitation of water droplets for years.
4 Pineapple (Picked)
The surface is more uneven than the lychee processing, just like the epidermis of pineapple.
5 Chiselled
It's also called longan noodles, which are chopped on the stone surface with axes, forming very dense stripe texture. Some are like the effect of longan epidermis.
